Matéria Dois gives form to a philosophy that shapes the way I see and create: no form exists in isolation. What we make continues to take on new meaning through encounters with other bodies, cultures, and realities.

The name comes from this idea. Dois, meaning “two” in Portuguese, introduces a relationship: one presence facing another. Through that encounter, possibilities emerge that neither could have produced alone. The name holds a space for exchange, tension, and mutual influence. It is an openness I want for both the project and my own life: allowing encounters to change what I imagine for myself.

Matéria Dois began before I knew exactly what its first product would be. There was already an urge to create, to experiment with materials, and to bring people and ideas together. Giving it a name meant recognizing how the things I wanted to do were connected and allowing them to become part of the same work.

The first chapter of this story is a sculptural study of the relationship between body and object. I’m developing objects for the body through chemical and physical experimentation, combining jewelry-making techniques, traditional or otherwise. These objects give Matéria Dois a concrete starting point for experimentation.

I don’t yet know all the forms Matéria Dois will take, but that openness is part of what I believe: what it can become also depends on the encounters still to come.
